Create a lasting impact and deliver value​

Marketing is not just about creating awareness or generating needs in the market. It represents the vision, value, and impact which you want to create in the world.

Do you remember “Apple’s 1984 super bowl” Ad? And “Nike’s 1988 just do it” Ad? These are the two best examples of a piece of marketing that changed the world. Apple’s introduced the freedom that personal computers will bring to its users and inspired tech leaders to see computers as a creative force for good and nike persuaded people that anyone can be athletes if they choose to be.

I believe the fundamental of marketing remains the same irrespective of the medium and channels of promotion. As a marketer, you need to ask yourself, what is that single most important thing which your company stands for?  What makes you different than competitors? How you want your customer to see your brand? Each marketing effort should be in sync with the core values and mission of the company.

Today alternative products are available for almost everything. It is really important for marketers to emotionally connect with users and reward loyal customers. Now the question arises how do you emotionally connect with your customer base? My answer is extremely simple – genuinely care for them.

The marketers need to build different customer personas, understand the customer needs of each segment, what are their likes and dislikes, what is stopping them to buy your product? Marketing must address the entire customer journey; it should provide the right context for people to understand the products and offerings.

Each marketing effort should give one clear message across the channels. If you are an innovative company that is breaking boundaries such as tesla, your message should inspire people to use your innovation proudly.

Today digital marketing has become more important than ever. Most of people are ordering online. Each marketer needs to expand their digital footprint. I urge marketers of today to not just think about how you can rank on the first page of google and bing, or viral your marketing video. The marketers need to think of marketing as a creative tool to communicate effectively and create emotional bonding with customers, employees, partners, and society at large.

The Making of utobo Intro Video

We have created the simplest platform in the world for creators to create, teach and sell content online, and we needed a video production company who can create our brand persona. It wasn’t easy to choose the right partner to produce a video that could establish a real connection with our customers.

After a lot of interviews with different companies, we finalized SAG/14 | Production Company. Our CEO Raj Sahu has watched a couple of videos produced by the founders Frank and Bobby. He felt that this is the right team who can not only produce an excellent quality video but also be able to bring the emotional element into it.

Once we handed over the script to Sag 14, we brainstormed into each word of the script and made it super simple for our users to understand it. They were terrific in casting and production designing. After the shooting and putting in numerous hours on video editing, the final video came out to be outstanding.

It looks like a super straightforward process, but we navigated through many challenges and fights to get this done. Raj was in Bangalore, and Bobby and Frank were in the USA, so managing time to talk to each other was not easy. Our talent had to go to different cities and had given us only one day to shoot the video and finding the costume manager in a day was a mighty task. After the shooting, aligning all the screens and defining the screen time was critical to success, but we finally did it, and that too in just 7 days.

Three important pillars of the online education system.​

Today tons of education technology tools are available for online teaching. Even after so many tools are available in the market, the online course completion rate is drastically low. We failed to improve learning outcomes using the currently available products.

I personally think the below 3 tools can certainly help us fix the problem.

         1. Gamification: 

The gamification of learning content has become very important to motivate learners to read by using video game design and game elements in learning environments. The goal is to maximize enjoyment and engagement by capturing learners’ personal interests. Gamification in learning involves using game-based elements such as point scoring, peer competition, teamwork, score tables which drive engagement. It helps students assimilate new information, think critically, act faster, and test their knowledge. Gamification is tremendously effective in instructor-driven and self-paced learning environments. I think the major reason why gamification produces better results because it triggers real, powerful human emotions such as happiness, intrigue, excitement, and accomplishment. We can call this decade the decade of transformation from the legacy offline education system to the online education system. Short video platforms such as Instagram and TikTok have impacted our focus time significantly. It has changed the human behavior of content consumption irreversibly. We must design and deliver a curriculum in class that can keep our learners engaged and motivated.

        2. Feedback System: 

Bill gates emphasized the importance of feedback in the current education system in the TED talk. Until we understand clearly where our students are lagging, we won’t be able to improve them. The best way to understand the effectiveness of teaching is through feedback channels. We should create effective feedback forms to help students open up about their problems in understanding certain topics. The teachers’ pitch, language, pronunciation, speaking too fast or too slow can impact the learning outcome. It will help teachers also to improve the delivery methodology and presentation skills.

        3. Personalisation: 

Artificial intelligence is gaining the spotlight over the past few years. AI can automate many unnecessary activities in the education system, which will allow teachers to focus on building quality content and engaging students in a better way. AI can benefit all the stakeholders in the education system. Once we know the learning preferences and speed of content consumption, we can personalize the educational content for each student. Few students may be brilliant in maths, but they might take a lot of time understanding chemistry. The AI can be handy in giving useful insights to both teachers and students.
